Election Commission doubles remuneration for BLOs, introduces honorarium for EROs and AEROs
New Delhi, Aug 2: Recognising the crucial role of field staff in maintaining accurate and transparent electoral rolls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a substantial hike in remuneration for electoral roll personnel.For the first time since 2015, the annual honorarium for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) has been doubled from Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000, while incentives for revision-related work have been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000. BLO Supervisors will now receive Rs 18,000 annually, up from Rs 12,000.
In a significant first, the ECI has introduced honorarium payments for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant EROs (AEROs). EROs will receive Rs 30,000, while AEROs will get Rs 25,000 per annum.
Additionally, BLOs will be granted a special incentive of Rs 6,000 for the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR), beginning with Bihar. The Commission said the move reaffirms its commitment to fair elections and is aimed at boosting morale and rewarding the tireless efforts of ground-level staff in upholding the integrity of the electoral process.
