“It is the responsibility of the Government of India to take the elected government and legislators into confidence for the restoration of peace,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a literary conference in south Kashmir’s Shopian town.  CPI M) leader said that achieving peace may not be easy without the cooperation of legislators. “The coordination and consultation with the legislators are imperative to achieve sustainable peace,” he said.

“Before the elected government took office, numerous incidents occurred in Jammu and other parts of the region. It is important to note that such incidents did not begin only after the elected government assumed power”, Tarigami said.  He said that the security issues were under the supervision of the Lieutenant Governor.

Tarigami, however, added that it was the responsibility of every one to help in restoring peace.  He said that the elected government must fulfill the promises made to the people of J&K.
