Eidgah Park craves for government attention
Srinagar, May 10: What was once a vibrant recreational space for families now stands in disrepair as Eidgah park continues to deteriorate with no sign of maintenance despite authorities still collecting entry fees from visitors.
A recent visit to the park revealed broken swings, damaged recreational equipment, and neglected play areas meant for children. The stark contrast between the fee collection booth—fully operational—and the dilapidated state of facilities has angered regular visitors.
"They have no shame collecting money while offering nothing in return," said Javaid Ahmad, who brought his children to the park only to find most play equipment unusable. "My children were excited to spend their weekend here, but we found everything broken or unsafe."
Parents expressed particular concern about the safety hazards posed by the damaged equipment, with several reporting instances where children nearly injured themselves on broken swings and slides with sharp edges.
"The slides have cracks and splinters that could seriously hurt a child, yet no one seems concerned," said Rafiqa Begum, a mother of two. "If they can't maintain the facilities, they should at least stop charging us to enter."
Local residents claim they have raised these issues multiple times with park management and authorities but have seen no corrective action.
