Egg cracks Rs 36,000 in auction

Kangan, May 25: An egg donated to raise money for the construction of a Masjid in the Hariganiwan area of Kangan in the Ganderbal district helped raise Rs 36,000 in an auction while a rooster helped raise Rs 1 lakh here Sunday.

The heartwarming gesture has come to the fore from Hariganiwan area of Kangan on the occasion of the laying of foundation stone for the local Masjid of Takiabal Mohalla.

Locals said that an egg donated by some localite was put up for auction and the egg turned out to be a most sought-after item.

They said during the auction, the egg fetched a whooping Rs 36000.

Similarly, a rooster donated by a local fetched a whooping Rs 1 lakh.

ìWe are eager to complete the construction of this Masjid at the earliest.  As the Masjid is planned to be big, the funds needed are also large. It was just the passion and emotion towards the sacred space,î locals said.
