Educational Trust Kashmir reviews achievements, future strategy

Srinagar, Nov 17: Educational Trust Kashmir held its general council meeting today at Hyderia Hall Dalgate, bringing together Council of patrons, Central Executive Council members, District bodies, and life members of the Trust to evaluate its performance over the past two years, tackle challenges, and outline a roadmap for future progress.

Presided over by the Trust’s Chief Patron, retired Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain, the meeting underscored a commitment to advancing education in the Kashmir Valley.

Educational Trust Kashmir, a non-profit organisation, is dedicated to fostering education through its network of 19 Imamia Public Schools spread across the Valley. These schools aim to provide quality education to underserved communities, focusing on holistic development and empowerment.

Trust's President, Mohamad Shafi Khan, presented a comprehensive report detailing the organisation’s achievements, challenges, and strategies for improving educational outreach, infrastructure, and financial sustainability.

“With around four thousand students currently enrolled in our schools, we remain steadfast in upholding our legacy and constitutional mandate to provide quality education to marginalised communities in the valley. Despite numerous challenges, today’s discussions reaffirmed our commitment to addressing these issues and refining our approach,” stated Mohamad Shafi Khan.

The meeting featured robust participation from intellectuals, educators, and stakeholders who shared valuable suggestions and insights.

Key topics included infrastructure development, teacher training programmes, and innovative strategies to improve student outcomes. Prominent speakers who unanimously appreciated the activities of the Trust and whose inputs were duly noted for future consideration included General Secretary Hakim Bashir Ahmad, Vice President Akhter Ali Gazi, Syed Kifayat Rizvi (IAS), Prof Maqsood, Er Javed Jaffar, Nisar Alamgir, Syed Ashiq Zaidi, and Mohd Qasim Mir.

In his address, retired Justice Hakim Imtiyaz Hussain emphasised the transformative power of education. “Our mission goes beyond imparting knowledge; it is about inspiring a generation to think critically, act ethically, and contribute meaningfully to society,” he remarked.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution to uphold the Trust’s core principles and expand its impact through collaboration, innovation, and a renewed commitment to the educational upliftment of Imamia Public Schools.
