Bandipora, July 25: The School Education Department recently promoted 112 senior lecturers, assigning them look-after charges as principals across various schools.

However, the Girls' Higher Secondary School in Bandipora district, with an enrollment of more than 1000 students, remains without a Principal — a position that has been vacant since November 2023.

This situation has sparked concern among parents and civil society, who are now appealing to the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department to address this issue promptly.

Parents and community members have voiced their worries, emphasising that the prolonged vacancy is detrimental to students' educational progress and overall school management.

"We have been waiting for months for the principal to be transferred to this school, but the delay is impacting the students," a concerned resident said.

"The absence of a Principal at this school has also raised serious concerns about the academic standards and administrative efficiency of the institution. It's high time that authorities take immediate cognisance of our request," one of the parents said.

Pertinently, the Civil Society members in Bandipora have made repeated appeals to the DSEK and the Secretary of the School Education Department, urging a swift transfer of a principal to this institute. They are concerned at the "deteriorating" standard of education at the institution which had lately carved its status as one of the "prime schools" nurturing a galaxy of students to efficiency, in the heart of the town's district headquarters.

The School Education Department's recent promotions have been welcomed by many forums, but the oversight regarding the Girls' Higher Secondary School has cast a shadow on the fate of the institution, the community members, which includes civil society, said.

The community is urging prompt redressal and hope that their concerns will be addressed without any further delay.
