Srinagar/Jammu, Aug 26: The educational institutions across entire Jammu region as well as six districts of Kashmir district would remain closed on Wednesday.

In view of the prevailing adverse weather conditions and for public safety, all educational institutions including schools, colleges, universities, coaching centres, and training institutes in Jammu region would remain closed on Wednesday, the authorities said on Tuesday.

They said that the management of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu (SKUAST-J) did not act timely on heavy weather activity, putting life of staffers and students in extreme danger.

The authorities said that in view of the prevailing adverse weather conditions and for public safety, all educational institutions in Jammu region including schools, colleges, universities, coaching centres, and training institutes would remain closed on August 27, 2025.

They said that all government and private offices would also remain closed except departments and services classified as essential like health, emergency response, utilities, and law and order.

Meanwhile, the divisional administration Kashmir on Tuesday evening ordered closure of all educational institutions in six districts of Kashmir on Wednesday.

The decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the adverse weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.

“In view of prevailing adverse weather conditions and as a precautionary measure, all educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities in Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, and Srinagar will remain closed on August 27, 2025,” reads an order issued by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Anshul Garg.

The decision has been taken for the safety of students and the staff as well.

Besides the closure of educational institutions, the JKBOSE examination of class 10th and 11th were also postponed as well.

“All the exams of Class 10th and 11th scheduled for Wednesday stand postponed. Fresh dates will be notified separately,” a JKBOSE notification reads.
