The polling date for both states is set for April 19, with the original date for counting of votes slated for June 4, as per the press note.

The ECI, empowered by Article 324 of the Constitution of India and Section 15 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, is tasked with conducting elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim before the expiration of their terms. The term of both assemblies is set to conclude on June 2.

In consideration of this, the Commission has decided to amend the schedule for the General Election to the State Legislative Assemblies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim, specifically regarding the counting of votes.

The revised schedule now indicates that the counting of votes will take place on June 2, instead of June 4, as previously planned. Additionally, the date by which the election shall be completed has been rescheduled to June 2, from the earlier date of June 6.

However, there will be no alterations to the schedule for the Parliamentary Constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
