New Delhi, Oct 9: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 6, 2025, announced the schedule for the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections and by-elections in eight constituencies across six States and the Union Territory of J&K.

For smooth and orderly conduct of the polls in Bihar, around 8.5 lakh election personnel have been deployed.

This includes nearly 4.53 lakh polling staff, 2.5 lakh police personnel, 28,370 counting officials, 17,875 micro-observers, 9,625 sector officers, and 4,840 micro-observers for counting. Up to 90,712 Anganwadi Sevikas may also be engaged in supporting roles.

Voter facilitation is being strengthened through 90,712 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and 243 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), accessible via phone or the “Book-a-Call to BLO” feature on the ECINet App.

A call centre at +91 1950 is available for complaints and queries at the DEO/RO level.

All personnel are deemed on deputation to the Election Commission under Section 28A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

First, one General Observer has been assigned to each of Bihar’s 243 constituencies to monitor polling and regularly engage with political parties and candidates.

Additionally, 38 Police Observers and 67 Expenditure Observers will oversee security and expenditure compliance throughout the elections.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed all political parties to adhere strictly to MCC provisions, including rules governing online content and social media.
