ECI announces Phase 2 of SIR in 12 states
New Delhi, Oct 27: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the launch of phase two of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR 2.0) of electoral rolls across 12 States and Union Territories, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.
According to the Election Commission, the revision exercise will begin on October 28 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Puducherry, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar told reporters that draft rolls will be published on December 9, 2025, and the final rolls will be released on February 7, 2026.
ECI also clarified that in Assam, where assembly elections are also due in 2026, the voter roll revision will be announced separately.
Among the 12 states included in this phase, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal are scheduled to go to the polls next year.
