Earthquake hits Kishtwar

Srinagar, Dec 20: An earthquake of 3.4 magnitude hit Kishtwar in Jammu division on Wednesday.

Eleven tremors have occurred in J&K and Ladakh in the last three days. According to the National Center for Seismology (NSC), the earthquake occurred at 11:57 am on Wednesday. “Earthquake of Magnitude:3.4, Occurred on 20-12-2023, 11:57:16 IST, Lat: 33.28 & Long: 76.70, Depth: 5 Km ,Location: Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir,” NSC posted on X.

Three earthquakes, two in Kargil district Ladakh and one in Kishtwar district of Jammu, struck on Tuesday creating panic.

As many as seven earthquakes were recorded as Monday’s seismic unrest continued with a sixth earthquake, registering a magnitude of 3.1 at 9:13 pm. This tremor, centered at 33.32°N, 76.72°E in Kishtwar, struck at a depth of 10 kilometres.
