DYSS Srinagar celebrates World Environment Day
Srinagar, May 30: In connection with the upcoming World Environment Day (WED 2025) and the campaign on "Ending Plastic Pollution Globally", the DYSSO (Department of Youth Services and Sports) Srinagar organised a Plog Run across all eight sports zones of the district on Friday.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 572 participants of various age groups.
To mark the celebrations, grand sports events were also held under Inter-Zonal District Level Competitions in volleyball, kho-kho, and kabaddi for girls of the U/14 group at GHSS Zadibal.
The competitions saw the participation of 186 girls from multiple schools.
Zonal Amira Kadal emerged victorious in volleyball and kho-kho.
Zonal Nishat clinched the Kabaddi trophy.
Simultaneously, Zonal Batmaloo successfully conducted Inter-School Zonal Level Football Competitions for boys U/14 at the Polo Ground, Srinagar.
In a notable outcome of the trials, Minto Circle emerged as the winner.
Doon School was declared the runner-up, and BMS New Chinar Colony secured the third place.
These events are not only promoting sportsmanship and physical activity but also aligning the youth with environmental awareness through combined celebrations of sport and sustainability.
