Srinagar, Jan 24: The Department of Youth Services & Sports in Srinagar took a proactive step towards enhancing road awareness by organising a Road Run/Walkathon as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra initiative.

The event, held in collaboration with the District Administration Srinagar, saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 250 students, both boys and girls, representing various institutions in Zone Amirakadal and Nishat. The Road Run/Walkathon spanned from Ishber Nishat to Dal Lake, covering a significant stretch of the city. The primary objective of this initiative was to instil awareness among the general public, especially the youth, regarding traffic rules and road safety.

The event received an encouraging response as students from different educational institutions actively engaged in the initiative. The Road Run/Walkathon was officially flagged off by Doost Mohammad, Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Amirakadal, in the presence of the entire staff from both zones. The participants demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting responsible road behaviour, contributing to the larger goal of creating a safer environment on the city's thoroughfares.

The collaboration between the Youth Services & Sports Department and the District Administration Srinagar underscores the collective effort to prioritize and promote road safety. By involving the youth in such awareness programs, the initiative aims to cultivate a sense of responsibility and adherence to traffic regulations among the younger demographic.
