Srinagar, Aug 11: The District Health Society Srinagar on Monday celebrated the National Deworming Day at Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI).

The programme was organised to raise awareness about the importance of deworming in safeguarding children’s health and boosting their growth and learning potential.

Deputy Chief Education Officer (CEO) Anjum Raja was the chief guest on the occasion, while Chairman GVEI Muhammad Yusuf Wani was the guest of honour.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Srinagar Dr Tahir Sajad, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nighat, along with other officials from the Health Department, were also present at the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, medical experts educated the students about the health risks caused by intestinal worms, their impact on nutrition and concentration.

The speakers highlighted how regular deworming could help improve immunity, attendance, and academic performance.

“Myths and misconceptions regarding deworming were clarified, and students were encouraged to follow good hygiene and healthy eating habits to prevent re-infection,” a GVEI statement issued here said.

In his address, Chairman GVEI Muhammad Yusuf Wani praised the DHS for its dedicated efforts and reiterated the commitment of the school to the holistic well-being of its students.

He urged children to adopt the healthy practices advised during the session and share these important lessons with their families.

Deputy CEO Srinagar, Anjum Raja, appreciated GVEI for hosting the event and emphasised that good health was the foundation for a bright future.
