‘Dugout discovered in Samba not tunnel’

Jammu, Jan 18: A 12-feet dug-out (trench) was detected in Jarian area of Samba district on Thursday.

“A dug out that has been found in General Area Jarian, Samba on own side of Ditch-Cum-Bund (DCB). The investigation to ascertain the details of the dug out is underway and all details will be clarified once the investigation is complete which is likely to take some time,” said BSF officials. “It is therefore requested (to the media) to refrain from calling the dug out as a tunnel till the investigation is complete and entire details are ascertained,” they said, while responding to reports about detection of a tunnel, along the International Border (IB).

Meanwhile, the police also clarified that the dug-out was not a cross-border tunnel as the area was two kilometers away from the IB.
