DSEK seeks list of teachers working in CEO, Zonal offices
Srinagar, Oct 24: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has sought details of all teaching faculty working in the offices of Chief Education Officers (CEO) and Zonal Education Officers (ZEO) afresh following the poor implementation of the previous orders issued on the matter.
As per the official communication issued from DSEK, all the CEOs have been asked to furnish the details along with the copy of orders by virtue of which these teachers, lecturers and masters are working in the offices till date. The CEOs have been asked to submit the details about the date of joining in the office with the order number besides the details of assignments taken by these teachers.
The DSEK has devised a format and asked the CEOs to furnish the details of the teachers, working in offices, as per the same format. "Also furnish a categorical certificate that no teaching staff other than those mentioned in the format are working in the ZEO or CEO office," the official communication reads.
The CEOs have been further asked that the information should be submitted to the DSEK by October 27 of 2024. As already reported by this newspaper, the prolonged deployment of teachers in offices has become a persistent problem in the department despite repeated orders issued for detachment of teachers. The CEOs were directed several times to submit compliance reports on implementation of the orders issued for detachment of the teaching staff working in CEO and ZEO offices.
However, the orders witnessed poor implementation forcing the authorities to issue back to back orders on the issue. An official told Greater Kashmir that all the orders issued earlier by the department were not implemented. Greater Kashmir earlier reported about the issue and highlighted the issue of unnecessary deployment of teachers in different offices. Later, the DSEK ordered cancellation of all the attachments and deployments of teachers in offices. However, complaints are pouring in from different districts that scores of teaching staff members are not joining their original place of posting in clear violation of the DSEK orders.
"Besides CEO and ZEO offices, some teachers are working in the DC office, SDM office and Tehsil office despite strict orders from DSEK to join their original place of postings," the official said. Notably, the fresh communication has been issued by the DSEK days after the Education Minister Sakina Masood chaired a review meeting of the School Education Department (SED).
