DSEK seeks details of PTR, class wise enrollment in govt schools
Srinagar, Dec 25: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has sought details of class wise Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) of all the government schools besides the student population in government recognised private schools as well.
As already reported by this newspaper, the lopsided issue of PTR persists in schools despite the claims made by the department to rationalise the staff in the schools.
As per the official document, the issue of the lopsided PTR was discussed in the recently held meeting by the Director School Education Kashmir G N Itoo in the directorate.
All the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) have been directed to furnish school wise PTE and Class-wise (boys/girls) enrollment of all government and private schools.
“The details should be submitted by December 31 of 2024,” the official document reads.
The meeting has also discussed the issue of availability of textbooks wherein the CEOs have informed that the actual requirement of books as per the enrollment for the session 2024-25 was conveyed to JK Board of School Education (JKBOSE) however the receipt of such books was awaited.
In the meeting, all the CEOs have pleaded that books shall be made available by JKBOSE at the earliest. “The distribution will be completed by December ending,” the official document reads.
The meeting has also discussed the issue about the pending cases under SRO 43/1994 as well as under RAS of 2022.
“The CEOs ensured that all such pending cases with requisite documents including follow up cases pending with Deputy Commissioners will be submitted by December 31 of 2024,” the document reads.
During the meeting, the issue about rented schools was also discussed wherein the CEOs were asked to submit details so that matter can be taken up with Deputy Commissioners to identify suitable vacant Government buildings.
“Or proposal can be initiated to construct departmental building in a phased manner,” the official document reads.
This newspaper earlier carried a series of stories about the schools operating from shabby rooms hired on rent by the department.
“The Chief Accounts Officer was asked to get the details consolidated by December 31,” it reads.
During the meeting, the Director has also sought the details about the about the in position and vacant posts of teachers besides non-teaching employees as well.
The Directorate has also sought the details about the PM Package employees including the total number of employees appointed, employees transferred to and from other districts besides the number of PM package employees working outside the department. The CEOs have been asked to submit the details about present position of PM package employees working in the district.
During the meeting the Director has expressed regarding the delay in issuance of retirement notifications of different cadres, due to non-submission of requisite documents and recommendations by the CEOs.
“The CEOs were instructed to submit all the pending Retirement Notification cases, strictly as per the check list issued by the directorate, in a time bound manner with proper authenticated documents,” the official document reads.
