DSEK, SCERT-JK launch induction training for school heads
Srinagar, Jul 10: Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), in collaboration with the SCERT-JK, launched a three-day ‘Induction Training Programme’ for newly promoted headmasters from Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, and Pulwama districts.
Hosted at the SCERT-JK campus, the training aims to equip school heads with the knowledge and leadership skills necessary to implement effective and coherent institutional planning.
Organised under the aegis of the DSEK and School Leadership Academy (SLA), SCERT-JK, Kashmir Division, the programme seeks to strengthen instructional and administrative leadership in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The event was inaugurated by Director School Education Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Itoo, as the chief guest, and was hosted by Syed Shabir Ahmad, Joint Director, SCERT-JK.
A significant highlight of the programme was the official release of the training module ‘Developing Institutional Plan’ by Itoo.
Commending the School Leadership Academy for designing a comprehensive and actionable framework, Itoo urged the participating Heads of Institutions (HOIs) to adopt structured and goal-oriented approaches to school planning and development.
The director also interacted with the trainees, encouraging them to lead with integrity, inclusivity, and innovation.
Stressing their dual role as instructional and administrative leaders, he called on school heads to foster learner-centric environments, drive data-informed decision-making, and implement Institutional Development Plans with accountability and vision.
In his address, Joint Director SCERT, Syed Shabir Ahmad, emphasised the phased rollout of the programme across all ten districts of Kashmir and applauded the coordinators for curating a module that fosters leadership excellence and school improvement.
The induction programme represents a pivotal step towards institutionalising leadership development at the grassroots level and reaffirms the commitment of DSEK and SCERT-JK to enhancing educational quality and governance across the region.
