DSEK launches career guidance, counseling programme in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 22: Director of School Education Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Itoo Saturday launched a week-long career guidance and counselling session 2025 at Srinagar.

A statement of the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) issued here said that in this regard, an inaugural ceremony was held at Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh, in which around 200 experts from all districts of Kashmir province participated who would provide career guidance to parents and those students who have recently appeared in 10th and 12th class examinations in their respective districts.

In his inaugural address, Itoo reiterated that career counselling will yield positive results only when you provide proper counselling to parents about the various career opportunities during these sessions.

He announced that under this week-long programme starting from March 24, mega sessions would be organised in all 374 clusters of Kashmir and all the cluster heads were directed to ensure the participation of parents in these sessions.

Itoo asked the counselling experts to familiarise themselves with the success stories related to different career opportunities and provide information about the latest innovative career fields to the students and their parents as well.

He stressed that experts should adopt the tools of psychology and provide effective counselling to remove the career-related concerns of students and parents.

Formal monitoring would be carried out for the effective implementation of this programme, which would be supervised by all the Joint Directors of the Department.

In addition to this, the respective Chief Education Officers of the different districts have been asked to submit a detailed report to the Joint Directors of the Department daily.

The experts who would provide counselling during these sessions belong to psychology, sociology, social work, and other fields.
