DSEK extends winter vacation for Kashmir schools by two days
Srinagar, Feb 29: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has extended winter vacation for school children for two days in view of the weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department.
The order in this regard was issued by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Thursday afternoon.
The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for heavy snowfall which is likely to disrupt surface and air transport. The weather department has predicted light to moderate snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir on March 1 while moderate to very heavy rains and snowfall is expected in entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Notably, all the schools were scheduled to resume routine class work for school children post over three month long winter vacation which was announced from November 28 to February 29 in a phased manner from primary to higher secondary class students.
However, the teaching staff in all the schools has resumed their duties from February 21 while the class work was scheduled to resume from March 1 of 2024.
“But given the weather forecast of heavy rains and snowfall, we decided to delay reopening of schools for routine class work for two days,” the Director School Education Kashmir Tasaduq Hussain Mir said.
“The class work in all government and private recognized schools will resume from March 4 of 2024,” the DSEK order reads.
