Srinagar, Nov 21: In a latest development, the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Naseer Ahmad Wani has barred the subordinate officers from issuing any orders to cancel the deployment of subject specific teachers in Higher secondary schools.

The move comes after the Joint Director (JD) school education department (North Kashmir) on November 15 of 2025 issued a circular directing all the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of north Kashmir districts and the concerned principals of higher secondary schools to cancel the deployment of all subject specific teachers posted in high secondary schools.

" The utilisation of the subject specific teachers at various higher secondary schools who were exclusively deployed due to dearth of lecturers stands cancelled with immediate effect. They shall report back to their original place of postings for further duties," reads an official communication signed by JD north Kashmir.

The officer asked all the Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) of north Kashmir districts to furnish a certificate confirming that all such teachers have resumed their duties at their original place of postings.

The exercise was to be completed within four days.

Such directions were issued only in north Kashmir districts, raising questions over the purpose of the move.

However, on Friday DSEK asked the concerned officials not to cancel the deployment of subject specific teachers till further orders.

Talking to Greater Kashmir, DSEK Naseer Ahmad Wani said they received representations from students that their practicals were pending and shifting subject specific teachers will create disturbances.

"So we decided not to move the subject specific teachers as of now. Once the practical sessions are over, the department will seek details of these subject specific teachers afresh and further decisions will follow accordingly," he told Greater Kashmir.

DSEK also communicated CEOs through official WhatsApp groups not to relieve the subject specific teachers deployed in higher secondary schools.

"All subject specific teachers will continue at their place of working till winter vacations. No further orders need to be issued by any subordinate officers," DSEK communicated to CEOs.
