Drug syndicate exposed in Kishtwar
Jammu, Dec 10: Police Wednesday stated to have exposed a drug syndicate by arresting a drug peddler with the heroin-like substance in Kishtwar district.
“Police in Kishtwar achieved another success in its ongoing campaign against drug trafficking by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering heroin-like substance during routine checking and frisking at Shalimar Naka,” SSP Kishtwar, Naresh Singh said.
While sharing more details, he informed that during naka checking, a party led SHO Kishtwar Inspector Firdous Ahmed intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK17A-1785 for routine inspection.
“During the course of checking, one individual identified as Amrit Kumar, son of Peyare Lal, resident of Lower Poochal, Kishtwar, who was seated in the cabin of the vehicle, was found carrying 12–13 grams of heroin-like substance in his possession. Accordingly, a case FIR No 253/2025 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Kishtwar,” SSP said.
The accused, according to SSP Kishtwar, was arrested, and further investigation was underway to identify the source of the contraband and to expose the entire network involved in the drug trade.
“Police in Kishtwar reiterate its unwavering commitment to eradicate the menace of drugs from the district. We appeal to the general public to share any credible information related to drug peddling or other unlawful activities for prompt and effective action,” SSP Naresh Singh said.
