Drug smuggler booked under NDPS Act in Baramulla, another arrested in Sopore
Srinagar, Dec 22: Acting tough against the drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have booked a most wanted and notorious drug smuggler under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla.
The most wanted and notorious drug smuggler namely Shoib Aijaz Guru @Shoib resident of Milat Colony Kanispora Baramulla has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. The booked drug smuggler has been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-balwal Jammu.
It is pertinent to mention here that many cases are registered against the drug smuggler, besides involvement in promoting trade by supplying drugs to local youth of town Baramulla and other areas of district. Despite his involvement in many FIRs, he did not mend his activities and was again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth.
Meanwhile, while continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party led by Incharge Police Post Watergam at a checkpoint established at Hib Dangerpora Rafiabad intercepted a suspicious person. During the search, 210 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Muneeb Ahmad Dar resident of Muqam Shaheed Mir Bomai. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.94/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Dangiwacha and investigation has been taken up.
“We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law,” police said.
