Drug peddler’s property attached in Kulgam: Police

Srinagar, Feb 6: A property of a drug peddler was attached in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, Police said.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that continuing its action against the drug peddlers, a two-storied residential house belonging to a drug peddler Khursheed Ahmad Bhat of Sopat Devsar was attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), 1985.

It said that the drug peddler was involved in several NDPS cases including case FIR No 63/2019 under Section 8/15 and 20 of the NDPS Act, case FIR No 11/2021 under Section 8/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act and 31/2021 under Section 8/20 and 22 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Devsar.

The property was identified as illegally acquired property during an investigation and inquiry conducted by the Police.

The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by the drug peddler.

The drug peddler is currently under detention at Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu under the PIT-NDPS Act.

The statement said that the operation reaffirms the commitment of J&K Police to combat the drug menace.

Locals hailed the initiative of the Police regarding the attachment of immovable property raised and used from illicit trafficking of narcotics by the drug peddlers in Kulgam district.
