Drug peddler detained in Reasi

Ramban, Nov 29: Police detained a notorious drug peddler in Reasi under PIT, NDPS Act and lodged him in Central Jail, Kotbhalwal Jammu on Friday.

Police sources said Mohan Lal son of Sandokhu Ram resident of Keshav Nagar, Ward No.11 Mathyal Katra District Reasi was involved in many cases registered under relevant sections of NDPS Act, in Police Station Katra. Police said a number of times he was warned to shun the path of supplying drugs to the youth of Katra. However he remained on a continuous mission of minting money by supplying banned drugs to the youth of Katra.

They said in view of his continuous involvement in drug peddling and to save the health and welfare of the society it was necessary to book him under stringent law. Later on the directions of SSP Paramvir Singh his dossiers for PIT,NDPS were prepared and after getting necessary detention orders, Mohan Lal was detained by the team of Police Station Katra and was lodged in Central Jail Kotbhalwal Jammu on Friday.

SSP, Singh said that Reasi, Police is working on a multi pronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse by organising awareness camps and by booking drug peddlers.

He said no one would be allowed to spoil our future generations. Meanwhile Udhampur arrested a drug peddler and recovered 8 grams of heroin (chitta) like contraband from his possession in Rehambal.
