Drug peddler booked under PSA in Doda

Ramban, Jan 25: Doda Police booked a habitual and notorious drug peddler under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) on Thursday.

Police officials said Yasir Ahmed alias Thopa son of Abdul Majeed resident of Sadiqabad, Doda has been booked under PSA for his active involvement in a series of criminal activities of a grave nature like peddling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances etc to local youth. He was arrested and lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah after the order of slapping PSA was approved and passed by the District Magistrate Doda.

They added that he was spoiling the future of young people by supplying contraband substances to them and a sense of insecurity was created among the parents of youth in the area. The officials said several FIRs under the NDPS Act were registered and complaints of his involvement in drug peddling against him in Police Station Doda.

“Being a habitual offender and dealer of black trade, his activities bear the potential to create an extreme law and order situation and a serious threat to the local youth of the Doda District,”they said .
