Drug peddler arrested with 115 gm of charas

Ramban, Apr 12: Police arrested a notorious drug peddler after they recovered 115 grams of Charas from his possession in Ramban town on Friday.

Police sources said on the directions of SSP Ramban Anuj Kumar thwarted narcotics smuggling attempts in Ramban town.

They said a reliable source alerted Police Station Ramban about the illicit activities of a suspected youth in Ramban town who was reportedly in possession of Charas and was travelling in an auto (load carrier) bearing registration number JK19-2133 from Ward No. 1, Ramban.

Acting swiftly a police team along with a magistrate established a checkpoint and intercepted the suspected drug smuggler. During frisking 115 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.

Police identified the drug smuggler as Mohammad Younis Sheikh, son of Abdul Salam Sheikh, residing in Ward No. 1 Ramban.

Police said a case under FIR No. 78 of 2024 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Ramban and further investigations are underway to uncover any connections or networks associated with this illegal activity.
