Drug peddler along with psychotropic substance held in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, July 05: In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Sopore arrested a drug peddler and recovered Psychotropic substances from his possession.

A police party of Police Station Tarzoo headed by SHO Police Station Tarzoo under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Pethseer crossing, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag. During search, Police party was able to recover 12 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from the bag. He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Yatoo son of Ghulam Rasool Yatoo resident of Sangrama Sopore.  He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, a police spokesperson said.

A case vide FIR No. 61/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been initiated.

Police urged common masses to report drug peddling incidents or any other crime to nearest police establishments or dial 112.
