Kupwara, Feb 16: Scores of driving license applicants Friday gathered at the New Bus Stand Handwara to protest and express their dissatisfaction with the Kupwara Motor Vehicle Department's prolonged delays in conducting driving tests.

For months, Kupwara residents awaiting their driving tests have endured uncertainty and frustration. Despite repeated attempts to schedule their tests, applicants face continual postponements, leaving them in limbo.

During the last one month the driving test has been postponed four times much to the disappointment of applicants.

"My driving test was scheduled on January 30 which was later postponed to 13th of February. After my arrival at the new bus stand Handwara, I came across that the test has been scheduled on 16th of February. Now the test has been postponed even today for the fourth time," said a protestor.

"I come from a far off place in the Rajwar area of Handwara. The continuous postponement of the driving test has really been giving a tough time to scores of applicants like me," he added.

"We were supposed to go through the test today but after reaching here we have been told that the test has been postponed. I want to ask the concerned officials how they can postpone the test without prior intimation to the applicants. We have been facing such an approach for the last several years," said another applicant.

The protesters sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan in this regard. They demanded action against the erring officials who time and again postpone the test thus putting the locals into a lot of inconvenience.
