Drivers take out rally in Rajouri
Rajouri, Dec 1: Under the banner of All Drivers Welfare Association, a protest rally was taken out in Rajouri town on Friday by drivers of different types of vehicles in support of their demands.
The protest rally started from Salani bridge new bus stand and concluded at Deputy Commissioner office complex where the protesters submitted a written memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
The protesters raised several demands and grievances in the protest putting the same before Government for redressal.
Representatives of the association while leading the protest said that a number of genuine issues of drivers and cleaners of goods as well as passenger vehicles find no takers and have been ignored for decades.
"We are not demanding anything out of the world but just a dignified life for a driver and cleaner who are backbone of society, " they said.
The representative added that a proper health insurance cover, a proper accidental insurance cover, driver bhawans in all urban areas should be provided by the Government and a proper drivers welfare policy be framed.
