Driver killed in Ramban accident
Ramban, Nov 2: A driver died on the spot after a loaded truck he was driving skidded off the road at under under-construction road stretch of a four-lane project at Kelamorh on Wednesday night.
Police sources said a valley-bound truck bearing registration number JK03E-8003 rolled down into a gorge in the Kelamorh area of Ramban.
They said on getting information from rescue teams Police, SDRF reached the spot retrieved a dead body from the spot and shifted it to the mortuary of District Hospital Ramban. Police identified the deceased driver as Mohammed Irfan Dar son of Abdul Qayoom Dar resident of Kulgam, Kashmir.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Mohita Sharma confirmed the incident and said in an unfortunate road accident a truck driver died. Police said after conducting a postmortem and other legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to the relatives. Police have registered a case under the relevant section of law at Police Station Ramban for investigations.
A rescuer said that due to the absence of signage driver wrongly opted old alignment road stretch from Seri to Kelamorh, which is still under construction.
Sources said at several places between Nashri to Banihal road widening work for converting a two-lane Highway into a four-lane is going on due to the non-availability of instructions. The vehicle operators opted under construction road stretches resulting in road accidents.
