Driver killed, 3 others injured in Banihal road accident

Banihal, Mar 10: A driver lost his life while three other family members have been injured after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident at Shalgadi area of Banihal along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Monday, officials said.

A police official said that an Alto car bearing registration number PB02T-8863 carrying family from Amritsar Punjab, was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar when it collided with Tempo traveler bearing registration number JK13C-7242 coming from opposite direction, near four lane tunnel in Shalgari area of Banihal, resulting on spot death of a driver identified as Anmolpreet Singh (22), son of Kamaljeet Singh.

The official said that three other persons were injured in the accident identified as Kamaljeet Singh (42), son of Baldev Singh; Charanjeet Kour (40), wife of Kamaljeet Singh; and Arshdeep Singh (19), son of Kamaljeet Singh, residents of Maaduke, Amritsar.

All injured have been referred to GMC Anantnag for treatment, he said.

Meanwhile police have taken cognizance of the incident.
