Driver dies as truck rolls down into deep gorge near Khouni Nullah
Ramban, Oct 19: A truck driver died on the spot after a truck he was driving rolled down into a deep gorge at Gujjar Mode near Khooni Nallah, ,on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway this morning.
Police sources said a rashly driven truck bearing registration number JK01AJ-5681 on its way to Kashmir from Jammu went out of control of its driver and fell into 300/400 feet deep gorge resulting in the driver of the truck died on the spot.
They said on getting information rescue teams of police and local volunteers reached the spot and retrieved the body from the gorge and shifted it to nearby Ramsu Hospital for identification.
Later, Police identified the deceased driver as Umar Hussain War son of Mohammad Hussain War resident of Edipora, Bomai, Tehsil, Sopore, District Baramulla,Kashmir.
They said after conducting postmortem and other legal formalities the dead body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs.
SHO, Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal confirmed the incident and said a case FIR, No, 259 of 2024 under section 281/106, BNS was registered and further investigation of the case was started.
