Drive against menace of drug abuse conducted in Pulwama, Shopian
Srinagar, Apr 29: Amidst concerns of menace of drug abuse, Drug Control Department of Pulwama ad Shopian today completed a week long special drive in the twin districts.
On the instructions of higher ups a team of Drug Control Officers was constituted under the supervision of Assistant Drug Controller and 160 inspections were conducted in both retail and wholesale medical establishments.
The main aim of the drive was to incorporate the digital technology within the premises of pharmacy stores so that dispensing of prescription drugs can be regulated under proper surveillance of HDR CCTV cameras having at least one month storage.
Second concern of the drive was to adopt a complete computer billing system in the pharmacy stores so that sales and purchase of psychotropic prescription drugs can be audited periodically with transparency. During the drive a warm response was received from the stakeholders with regard to the adaptation of latest gadgets on priority.
To sensitise the stakeholders and to clarify the advantages of digitalisation various awareness programmes were conducted in Tral, Pampore, Shopian, Pulwama and Keller. Drug control department is optimistic to achieve the goal of Good Pharmacy Practice with the twin districts of Pulwama and Shopian in near future and follow up steps shall be taken in future as well.
