Srinagar, Oct 25: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in Pulwama and Shopian districts and have seized eight vehicles involved in illegal transportation of minerals.

An official said that police parties of Police Post Newa and Police Post Hawal seized two vehicles (tipper and dumper) bearing registration number JK04/5947 & JK13G/9749 involved in illegal transportation of minerals. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 250/2025 of Police Station Pulwama and FIR No. 109/2025 of Police Station Rajpora have been registered under relevant provisions of law. He said the investigations are going on.

Similarly police seized one JCB, three dumpers and two tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from the Zainapora and Shopian areas.

An official said that two dumpers were seized by Police Station Zainapora for operating without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 95/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been initiated. In a similar action, one dumper and one tractor engaged in illegal extraction of minerals were seized by Police Post Turkwangam. Consequently, FIR No. 96/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation is underway.

Moreover, Police Station Shopian seized one JCB and one tractor found extracting minerals illegally without valid royalty documents. In this connection, FIR No. 229/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.

Police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the natural resources and maintaining strict action against violators. They urged the general public to cooperate with police by reporting any incidents of illegal mining.
