Drinking water shortage hits Buchwara
Srinagar, Sep 26: For over a month, residents of Buchwara area of Dalgate have been reeling under drinking water shortage causing immense inconvenience to inhabitants.
A delegation from the area said that despite repeated complaints to the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department the regular water supply has not been restored for the last one month.
"As a temporary measure, residents of Buchwara, Near Masjid Sharief, adjacent to Goodwill Public High School are forced to rely on bore wells at local masjids and a temporary rubber pipeline from a tube well to meet their basic water needs. Community leaders said that these temporary arrangements are unsafe and cannot continue indefinitely, particularly for children, the elderly, and patients with medical conditions.
This prolonged disruption has caused immense inconvenience, raising serious questions about the timely provision of essential services. Water is a basic necessity, and the delay in restoring supply has left the community frustrated and distressed," they said.
The residents are now appealing to the Minister for PHE and Deputy Commissiner Srinagar to intervene urgently, direct the concerned department to restore proper water supply on a war-footing basis, and provide a clear timeline for permanent resolution.
