Drinking water safe for consumption at Firdousabad: SMC
Srinagar, Jan 5: The Water Works Team of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has issued clarification on reports on social media platforms on water quality issues at Firdousabad area of Batamaloo.
In a statement, SMC spokesperson said after conducting a thorough investigation of the reports, it was revealed that the drinking water supplied to Firdousabad is sourced from the 10MGD Sukhnag Water Treatment Plant (WTP). “At the WTP, it undergoes rigorous purification and chlorination processes to ensure its safety. Further, water quality is checked through daily laboratory testing and consumer endpoint sampling, both of which confirm that the water remains free from contamination,” the statement said.
“The concern raised was traced back to a leakage in a private PPC line to individual household which was promptly addressed and the line was repaired and replaced to restore the water supply of appropriate quality. Following repairs, subsequent water quality tests have been conducted in the neighborhood have confirmed that the drinking water is now safe for consumption,” it said.
“The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is dedicated to providing clean, safe, and reliable drinking water to all residents. We encourage the community to remain vigilant and report any water quality concerns promptly for swift action and resolution,” the statement added.
