Drass Thunder motorcycle rally flagged off from Udhampur
Udhampur, June 19: Drass Thunder Motorcycle rally was flagged off on its sixth day of journey by Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, Chief of Staff, Headquarter Northern Command in a ceremony organised at Dhruva War Memorial on Tuesday.
The flag-off ceremony was graced by senior officers from Udhampur Military Station.
The rally team comprised army personnel, war veterans of Operation Vijay, Next of Kin of bravehearts of Operation Vijay and community members from Drass. The team is scheduled to meet gallantry award winners, veterans and veer naris enroute to Drass.
The rally was flagged off from National War Memorial, New Delhi on June 13, 2024 by Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, Vice Chief of Army Staff.
The participants reached Udhampur on June 17 at 6 pm and halted for the night at Udhampur. On June 18, the rally covered a distance of 134 kms and halted at Srinagar.
“This unique journey symbolises the enduring bond between the armed forces and nation that resonate with the spirit of courage, sacrifice and patriotism. This expedition is testament to the unwavering spirit of our armed forces and aims to ensure that the memories of the Kargil war and the valour exemplified by our soldiers remain etched in the collective consciousness of the nation,” said PRO Defence Lt Col Suneel Bartwal.
