Dr Varun Suthra appointed as FIVB Commission member
Srinagar, Dec 01: Marking India’s rising global presence in sports administration, Dr. Varun Suthra has been appointed as a member of the prestigious FIVB Communications Commission. This appointment was approved by the FIVB Board of Administration during its first meeting for the 2024–2028 Olympic cycle, following the 39th FIVB World Congress.
The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the apex governing body for volleyball worldwide, represents 222 member countries and plays a pivotal role in the global development of the sport. The FIVB's commissions and councils provide guidance in critical areas such as coaching, legal frameworks, medical science, and communication strategies. Dr. Suthra’s appointment to the Communications Commission underscores his exceptional skills and commitment to fostering international collaboration in the realm of sports.
Expressing his gratitude on this occasion, Dr. Suthra acknowledged the invaluable guidance and support of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the former president of the Volleyball Federation of India. Dr. Suthra, who brings over six years of parliamentary experience from both Indian and Swiss legislatures, is renowned for his excellence in diplomacy, communication, and global leadership. His participation in international platforms such as the Economic Forum in Karpacz and his advisory role in the Swiss-Indian Parliamentary Group reflect his unwavering commitment to international collaboration and leadership.
