Srinagar, Sep 1: Taking Jammu & Kashmir’s environmental concerns to the concerned quarters, Dr Touseef Bhatt, Chairman, Kashmir Concern, working for environmental concerns in the region met Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi.

As per a press release, during the detailed discussion, Bhatt apprised the minister of the escalating environmental crises in the Jammu and Kashmir region. “I presented a ground-level assessment of these challenges and stressed the immediate need for policy reinforcement and stricter enforcement,” said Bhatt.

“The Honorable minister listened with keen interest and reflected to have a deep understanding. He assured us of the Ministry’s complete support and commitment to preserving the ecological wealth of Jammu & Kashmir.

He has promised all possible help,” said Bhatt. In terms of the issues discussed with the minister, Bhat highlighted climate change in the Himalayan region. He also stressed on deforestation and biodiversity loss. Besides, the issue of water crisis and pollution of water bodies was also discussed. There were also deliberations on solid waste management, he said.
