Dr Majid Ahmed Talikoti appointed honorary Health Commissioner for India-GCC Trade Council

New Delhi, Mar 26: Dr Majid Ahmed Talikoti, a distinguished cancer surgeon and hospital administrator, has been honored with the prestigious title of “Honorary Health Commissioner” by the India-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Trade Council, marking a significant milestone in cross-border healthcare collaboration.

A statement said that in a ceremony held in Delhi on March 18, Dr Talikoti received his official appointment letter, conferring upon him comprehensive rights and responsibilities associated with the honorary position. The role positions him as a critical bridge between healthcare systems of India and key Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar.

“This appointment is more than an individual honor; it’s an opportunity to transcend borders, religions, and regional differences through collaborative healthcare initiatives,” Dr Talikoti told this correspondent. His vision extends beyond medical cooperation, emphasizing diplomatic relationship-building through health sectors.

The recognition comes on the heels of multiple recent accolades. Earlier this year, he was named among the 100 most influential Indian Muslims by Muslim Mirror and recently received the Healthcare Excellence Asian Arab Award 2025 in Dubai, underscoring his growing international reputation.

As Chairman of the 600-bed Medicant Hospital in Bokaro, Jharkhand, Dr Talikoti has built a significant reputation for providing high-quality, affordable healthcare to underserved regions.
