Dr M R Attri brings laurels to GMC Srinagar

Srinagar, Sep 28: In an achievement for the Government Medical College Srinagar, DR M R Attri, Professor of Surgery in the Department of General And Minimal Access Surgery, GMC Srinagar has earned the title of Centre of Excellence (CoE) for his department at a prestigious event at Indore.

Attri demonstrated live surgery of Bilateral laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia by repair by E -Tep Technique at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), Mohak Superspeciality and IRCAD Centre Indore, showcasing his skills and techniques at the National event.

Attri, who is also an executive member of the Hernia Society of India (HSI) has a vast experience of the Laparoscopic repair of Various types of Hernias. Professor Attri was accompanied by Dr Irfan Nazir Mir, who is working as an Assistant Professor in Surgery department at GMC Srinagar.

Dr Mir presented his experience on videos of intraoperative difficulties during laparoscopic hernia surgery and the ways to tackle these difficulties.

Apart from that, FNB scholar in laparoscopic surgery, Dr Razia presented paper on advanced laparoscopy, other postgraduate students, namely Dr Beera Krishna and Dr Shahzaib showcased the work done in laparoscopic hernia surgery at GMC Srinagar.

The work and skills of senior laparoscopic surgeon were appreciated by everyone at the event.

It is pertinent to mention here that the department of  General And Minimal Access Surgery, GMC Srinagar had held a national event in July ,2024 titled the Hernia Summit 2024 which was a great success and the department of General And Minimal Access Surgery, GMC Srinagar was awarded as centre of excellence (COE) in hernia surgeries by the HSI at that event.

Professor Attri said that he expects many such moments of pride and honour in future too.

He said, it was the responsibility of senior doctors to show way to the young surgeons and inculcate in them the highest standards set in training and education. This, he said, will benefit patients.
