Dr Farooq saddened by loss of lives in landslide on Vaishnodevi route, Jammu floods
Srinagar, Aug 27: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Wednesday expressed sorrow and concern over the devastating floods that have severely impacted several areas of the Jammu region.
He has expressed grief over the death of over 30 pilgrims who died in a tragic landslide while performing the yatra towards Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. He expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for swift recovery of the injured, said a party statement.
In his message, Dr. Abdullah extended his condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, homes, property, and livestock in this calamity. He appreciated the swift and compassionate response of the J&K govt under the leadership of Omar Abdullah. "The timely reachout and rescue operations undertaken by the administration have saved countless lives and brought much-needed relief to those stranded," he said. He further urged the Central Government to immediately release financial and logistical assistance to aid in relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts. “This is a time for unity and collective action. The people of Jammu need the full support of both the local administration and the Centre,” Dr. Abdullah emphasized. He appealed to NGOs, civil society organizations, and citizens to come forward in solidarity to support the ongoing relief efforts
