Dr Farooq, Omar Abdullah recall supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS)

Srinagar, July 7: National Conference (NC) President DrFarooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah in their message on the very onset of the holy Month of Muharram-Ul-Haram said the month tells us to wage a sustained, and peaceful struggle against injustice, and oppression.

In his message Dr Farooq Abdullah said that the month of Muharram Ul Haram marks the great sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Aali Makam (AS) who drew up the line between the right and wrong till the Day of Resurrection by rendering the supreme sacrifice of his life. "Hazrat Imam- e- Hussain (AS) taught this essential lesson to humankind that those who sacrifice their lives for the sake of principles remain alive and the oppressors of the time lose despite their seeming victory and become objects of universal condemnation and curse till the Day of Judgment."

Omar Abdullah in his message said the Imam Aali Makam (AS) eternalised Islam by choosing to sacrifice his family, giving birth to attitudes of patience, submission and perseverance, and the entire humanity continues to benefit from them. He said that the act of Imam Hussain (AS) elevated the stature of humanity and he is a shared asset of the entire civilised world.
