Dr Farooq Abdullah appeals for peace in Gaza
Srinagar, Nov 3 : Former chief minister and National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today appealed for peace in Gaza and an end to the ongoing bloodshed.
He thanked the prime minister Narendra Modi for sending aid including medicines and other things to Gaza and appealed him to use his good offices for restoring peace there.
Dr Abdullah was talking to media persons after a meeting with political leaders here. PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami and NC MP Hasnain Masoodi were present.
“We met here and discussed the situation in Palestine. People are being killed there as if they are not human being. The situation is very grim there . We thank our Prime Minister for sending aid including medicines and other things there. We appeal him to use his good offices for restoration of peace there. Peace is very important to end the bloodshed. The country of Mahatma Gandhi has to play its role in getting peace established peace in Palestine,” Dr Abdullah said.
He added that besides the killings there are other serious crisis in Gaza.” There is no water and electricity in Gaza. The surgeons in hospitals are working under candlelight there. There is also shortage of medicines in Gaza,” the NC president said.
