What made this exhibition unique was its inclusivity. It was open for all classes, aiming to provide a platform for budding artists to exhibit their skills while simultaneously educating students about the rich history and culture of art.

Asif Iqbal, the Head of the Visual Arts Department, said, "the main motive of the exhibition was to provide a platform for students to express their ideas through art and bridge the gap that developed after the challenges posed by Covid. It boosted and rebooted the interest of the students."

He went on to highlight his efforts in giving the students exposure to what an art gallery looks like and how to visualise art in various forms. Iqbal expressed his gratitude to the students of classes 11th and 12th for their unwavering support throughout the exhibition.

The prestigious event was inaugurated by the school principal, Shafaq. It served as an educational opportunity for students in classes 11th and 12th to understand the concept of displaying art exhibitions, a crucial part of their curriculum.

The exhibition underlined that the field of fine arts provides a plethora of opportunities and that students can pursue it as a profession. Many DPS students have not only excelled in India but also in various foreign countries like Canada, Australia, Pakistan, Italy, France, and beyond, showcasing the global appeal of their artistic talents. The event aimed to reshape students' perceptions, emphasizing the importance of fine arts as a subject alongside traditional academic subjects.

“One heartwarming aspect of the exhibition was the participation of lower-grade students (LKG-3rd), who wrote feedback with their tiny hands, demonstrating the pervasive impact of the exhibition”

In a promising announcement, Asif Iqbal revealed that the department is planning to conduct two grand exhibitions next year, which will be open for all schools in the valley. “This move reflects the commitment of DPS Srinagar to foster artistic talents and promote art education in the region,” the organisers said in a statement.

“The Annual Art Exhibition at DPS Srinagar serves as a testament to the power of art to inspire, educate, and bridge gaps in the learning journey of students, reaffirming the significance of fine arts as an integral part of their education.”
