DPS Budgam conducts workshop on coding skills for underprivileged students

Budgam, Aug 28: Delhi Public School (DPS) Budgam proudly hosted a transformative two-day workshop titled “She Codes” on August 22 and 23 aimed at bridging the technology gap in underprivileged schools.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from young students across several local schools, marking a significant step towards digital empowerment in the region.

The “She Codes” workshop was designed to introduce basic coding skills to young girls, with a special focus on empowering those from technology-deprived backgrounds. Through interactive and hands-on sessions, expert trainers guided the participants in exploring fundamental programming concepts. The workshop emphasised problem-solving through technology, providing students with the tools to navigate the digital world confidently.

The event was organised by the IT Department of DPS Budgam, which has long been committed to fostering digital literacy among students, especially those in rural areas. “She Codes is our step towards ensuring that no child is left behind in the digital age,” the department stated, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in today’s increasingly digital world.

Dr D Samuel Seelan, Principal of DPS Budgam, expressed his pride in the successful execution of the workshop, stating, “Empowering young minds with technological skills is crucial for their future. This workshop is a significant step toward creating equal opportunities for all students, regardless of their background.”

Dr Seelan’s words highlight the school’s commitment to educational inclusivity and the importance of equipping all students with the skills needed for the future.

The participants, many of whom had limited prior exposure to technology, expressed great enthusiasm about the learning experience. The workshop not only sparked a newfound interest in technology-related fields but also instilled confidence in the students to pursue further education and careers in technology
