DoT strengthens telecom network ahead of Cyclone Ditwah
New Delhi, Nov 30: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has initiated emergency measures to ensure telecom network resilience as Cyclone Ditwah approaches the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
A 24×7 control room has been set up to coordinate with service providers, district authorities and disaster management agencies for rapid response.
Telecom operators have been directed to maintain uninterrupted services with sufficient fuel reserves, emergency power backups and field teams deployed in vulnerable areas. Under SOP-2020, intra-circle roaming and cell broadcast alert systems have been fully tested to secure communication continuity and facilitate early warnings. The DoT is monitoring the situation closely to ensure network stability during and after the cyclone.
