Srinagar, Nov 10: The Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) is set to launch a Digital Life Certificate (DLC) camp in Srinagar as part of its nationwide Campaign 3.0, marking a significant step towards digitalizing pension services in the region.

The one-day camp, scheduled for November 12, will operate simultaneously at two locations - the State Bank of India (Main Branch) on Residency Road and the India Post Payments Bank in the General Post Office (GPO) Building Srinagar. Pravesh Kumar, Under Secretary from DoPPW, will oversee the camp operations and guide pensioners through various digital submission methods.

The campaign introduces a user-friendly approach utilizing Aadhaar-based face authentication technology on Android smartphones, eliminating the traditional requirement for pensioners to physically visit Pension Disbursing Authorities. UIDAI representatives will be present at the camp to assist with Aadhaar record updates and resolve technical issues.

This initiative represents a significant evolution in pension services since 2014 when DoPPW first introduced Digital Life Certificates (Jeevan Pramaan). The integration of Face Authentication technology in 2021 further simplified the process by removing the need for biometric devices. The success of previous campaigns is evident in the numbers: 1.41 crore DLCs generated across 37 locations in 2022, increasing to 1.47 crore across 100 locations in 2023.

Campaign 3.0, running throughout November 2024, aims to reach 800 locations nationwide. The initiative brings together key stakeholders including Banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners' Associations, UIDAI, MeitY, and various government ministries. Special provisions, including home visits, have been arranged for super-senior and disabled pensioners, ensuring no beneficiary is left behind.

The DoPPW will monitor the campaign's progress through the DLC Portal, while simultaneously conducting a social media campaign to raise awareness about this digital initiative. This comprehensive approach aims to make life certificate submission more accessible and convenient for pensioners across the country, particularly benefiting those in remote areas or with limited mobility.
