New Delhi, July 16: Former President Donald Trump arrived at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, marking his first public appearance since surviving an assassination attempt just two days prior. Trump sported a large bandage on his right ear, a visible reminder of the harrowing incident at a political rally.

The image of Trump with a bandaged ear, blood streaming down his face, remains etched in the minds of many. Despite the attack, Trump raised his fist defiantly toward his supporters as security whisked him away for safety and medical treatment.

Today, Trump took the stage at the convention, where he was formally announced as the Republican Party's official nominee following the delegate count. Throughout the event, he was seen smiling, applauding, and engaging in occasional conversation with fellow Republicans Vance and Donalds.

Media reported that upon arriving in the VIP section, Trump shook hands with Tucker Carlson, signalling the media figure's significant role in Trump's sphere. The convention floor erupted with chants of “U-S-A, U-S-A” and “fight! fight! fight!” as supporters pumped their fists, echoing Trump’s own gesture of defiance from the rally.

In addition to the political victory, Trump also secured a significant legal win earlier this week. A Florida judge dismissed the criminal case accusing him of illegally retaining classified documents after leaving the Oval Office, further bolstering his position as he continues his campaign.

The atmosphere at the convention was electric, with Republican supporters celebrating Trump's survival and continued dominance in the party.

Trump Names JD Vance as Running Mate Ahead of 2024 Election, His Usha Chilukuri Vance is of Indian Origin

Former President Donald Trump has announced Ohio Senator JD Vance as his vice-presidential nominee for the upcoming 2024 election. Vance, a former critic turned staunch defender of Trump, was formally selected by Republican National Convention (RNC) delegates on Monday. Trump announced his social media platform, citing "lengthy deliberation and thought" in his decision.

Vance, 39, is a Yale-educated venture capitalist and author of the bestselling memoir-turned-film "Hillbilly Elegy." Despite his earlier criticisms of Trump, including a private remark comparing him to "America's Hitler," Vance has since become a fervent supporter. His endorsement by Trump was instrumental in securing his Senate seat in the 2022 midterm elections, marking his entry into public office.

Following his confirmation as Trump's running mate, Vance appeared on Fox News, attacking President Joe Biden by calling him an "empty vessel" elected in 2020 and now an "incapacitated president." He accused Democrats of lying about Biden's health, urging voters to "either reward or punish that behaviour" in November. Vance acknowledged his past criticisms of Trump, emphasizing the importance of admitting when one is wrong as reported by the international media.

Media also reported that Vance is a native of Ohio, Vance gained national attention with "Hillbilly Elegy," which chronicles his blue-collar upbringing and its impact on his political views. Trump praised the book on Truth Social, saying it "championed the hardworking men and women of our country." He expressed confidence in Vance, stating, "As Vice President, JD will continue to fight for our Constitution, stand with our troops, and do everything he can to help me MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN."

JD Vance's wife, Usha Chilukuri Vance, adds another layer of distinction to his candidacy. The daughter of Indian immigrants, Usha has an impressive academic background, holding degrees from Yale University and the University of Cambridge. A prominent litigator, she has clerked for Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh. Raised in San Diego, California, with a strong emphasis on education, Usha has played a significant role in her husband's success, helping him articulate his thoughts on the social decline in rural white America—a theme central to "Hillbilly Elegy."

The New York Times reported that the couple, who met at Yale Law School, married in Kentucky in 2014, incorporating a Hindu ceremony. They have three children together. Usha has occasionally appeared alongside her husband during his Senate campaign, supporting his political ambitions. In a recent interview with Fox & Friends, Usha spoke about her husband's dedication and creativity, highlighting his relentless pursuit of improvement and understanding.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Trump's selection of JD Vance as his running mate underscores his strategy to galvanize his base and present a united front. In light of a recent assassination attempt, Trump's campaign emphasizes unity and resilience, setting the stage for a contentious rematch with President Biden.
